Labrador’s ears are relatively large. Parents should pay attention to careful protection and correct care to avoid the occurrence of earwax and effectively prevent Labrador ear diseases. So, how should you take care of your Labrador’s ears?

First, check whether there are any tangles on the outside of the ears. knots and parasites, these problems become more pronounced the further in. Check the ear canal for waste and dirt. A small amount of accumulation is common. However, if you find a large amount of earwax that is reddish-brown, streaky, or smelly, you need to seek help from your doctor!
Then, check the ear hairs. The ear hairs in the ear canals accumulate dirt, bacteria, and moisture and begin to guide sensation. Trimming will make the ears cleaner and more beautiful.
When trimming ear hair, first pull the ears back to the top of the head, and then flatten them against the head. This will close small parts of the ear canal.
You may wish to use small blunt-tipped scissors to trim ear hair. Sprinkle ear powder on sensitive ears.
If the ear is heavily dirty, gently pull the ear outward from the head to open the ear canal, and then inject a few drops of cleaning fluid or mineral oil. Massage the base of the ear, force the ear for a minute to allow the detergent to flow down the ear canal, and then let go of the dog and make it shake its head several times to loosen the earwax. Check the ear again, and then use a cotton ball or cotton swab soaked in ear cleaning water or mineral oil. Remove earwax.
For puppies with floppy ears, the hair under the ear holes and inside the auricles needs to be cut short. This can enhance the airflow and reduce the chance of feeling it.
