There are currently three subspecies of Bengal monitor lizard (Varanus bengalensis). They are not as large as some lizards. The Bengal monitor lizard has a longer head, longer body, and well-developed eyelids, hands and feet. They are mainly distributed in the Indian Peninsula, Indochina and other places. Only specimens of this species of monitor lizard have been found in Yunnan, China.
